ACT: Kanye West
DIRECTOR: Coodie Chike
GENRE: Hip Hop
MAIN AUDIENCE: M+F 15-24
Looking/Mode of Address:
The music video is a concept video, therefore there are references to pictures through out which is how the music video is filmed through the use of pictures. It also follows a narrative of Kanye West' success.
Links between the lyrics and visuals:
There is a very strong link between the lyrics and the visuals. 'Through the wire' symbolises Kanye West rapping this song whilst hois mouth was wired shut following a car accident where he nearly lost his life hence the lyrics 'thank god i ain't to cool for this safebelt' but the visuals displayed all link to the lyrics in one way or another.
Genre Characteristics:
Genre characteristics are only made clear when shots from within the studio are used as recognisable artists such as Jay Z are there which may signify that this may be of the same genre as hip hop/rap. This also works as a method of intertextuality as another artist is shown.
