Class Vid: The Shoot TBC

Class Vid: Brainstorm TBC

Summary Of The Winning Pitch

The winning pitch was One Directions' 'One thing.' The idea was to remake the original video with all of the members in our class. This idea was probably the most realistic in comparison to the other pitch ideas, as the locations are accessible and there is no difficulties we would have to face with costumes or props. However, there was one problem which is the scene used for the bus where all members of one direction are cruising round on an open top bus, our problem is that we can't access an open top bus any where in the Ilkley/Leeds area. nevertheless, this is a problem that can be overcome.

Class-Vid [One Thing] Costumes

One Direction Costumes:

All of the members of the group wear the same clothes throughout the video, they more or less go for a sort of preppy smart look. This is a benefit for us as a group as the costumes aren't too extreme and wouldn't be too hard to get or too costly to the group.

The costumes are as followed:

  • Liam Payne - Grey trousers, grey waistcoat, white shirt, black tie
  • Harry Styles - Black trousers, maroon turtle neck, grey blazor
  • Louis Tomlinson - Maroon Trousers, white shirt, blue braces
  • Niall Horan - Grey trousers, red shirt, blue cardigan
  • Zayne Malik - Blue suit, checkered shirt

Class-Vid Pitch - 50 Cent Candy Shop

This was the video to go along with my class pitch, The video on its own only highlights two aspects of my idea, the costumes and the locations-all is explained in my class-vid track/idea post. My pitch went as expected and was followed by a Q&A session with my peers, this was good as i was able to communicate certain aspects with them that weren't mentioned in my pitch.

Out of the Q&A session it became apparent that a role reversal of the characters in my class-vid would prove to be a lot more comical for my target audience. This would consist of the male members in my class wearing lingerie and the girls entering the 'candy shop.' Other changes would be the guys doing a synchronised dance routine as seen in the original video, likewise the girls would lip sync to 50 Cent's rapping.

Class-Vid Track/Idea

Hip Hop

My idea consists of remaking the original video. This consists of the male character (50 Cent) walking through a house full of girls the 'candy shop'

Each one of the male memebers in the class could play 50 Cent because there are a number of different costumes he wears and a number of different locations, this way we could change up the actors we could use. However we would have to provide a significant piece of exposition that would make it clear to the audience that each actor used is signifying 50 Cent.

The narrative is 50 Cent walking through the house and meeting a number of different girls, but there are many cut away shots to him trapping aswell as the girl singing the chorus, which the female characters in our class could split up between them. Also a scene consists of a dance routine performed by the girls in the house, this could work well in the correct location.

Costume-wise 50 Cent wears 6 different costumes in total i counted, this is an ideal way of splitting up the actors and involving everyone in the class-vid. the costumes themselves are all rather basic and would be easily accessible as some members in my class dress similiary.

As for the girls they would be dressed in lingerie, as shown in the video.

Lovcation-wise, there are about 5 different locations used split up between the narrative of the music video and the cut away shots to him rapping. On eof these consists of 50 Cent sitting on a car which i think we could do easily in the staff car park, if we chose a nice car to sit on the shot could be very similar and could be just as effective.

In terms of lip-syncing, there is alot in this video.

To summarise, i think my idea could work really well as it is a realistic, achieveble idea. With the co-operation from my peers as well as help from Dave, this video could be very good. There may be some flaws, however these would be easily solved due to the skills and quality amongst class.

Mini-Vid Rough Cut 2

Following the feedback that my fellow group member, Ben received. Through my own independent views i knew that my video could be improved on certain aspects. Bens audience feedback backed up my idea to create a second rough cut as i knew things could be changed on my original rough cut as well as on his.

Therefore, for my second rough cut i aimed to cut down the length of my shots and use relevant effects referring to a pirate theme to link in with the song lyrics. Also i aimed to have more continuity in my editing so the film would run smoothly form each shot.

Audience Feedback (Rough Cut 2)

  • The flashing effect was over used
  • Diegetic sound needed to be taken off the original clips
  • Callidescope pattern effect was in-effective
  • The slow motion effect was over used apparently
  • The swinging on the ropes shots were used excessively
From my audience feedback i gained no positive feedback, as this is a second rough cut if i were to consider a third, i am aware of the things that could be improved on my mini-vid.
